Our Team

Shannon Oakes M.S. CCC-SLP

Shannon received her B.A. at UC Berkeley and her M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. She has over 15 years of clinical experience in early intervention, hospital, private practice, and in preschool, elementary and middle school settings. She has consulted and run trainings with the Autism Center of Northern California and leads Hanen caregiver education programs to parents of children with language delays. She is also a Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) trained clinician who is educated in gestalt language processing and delayed echolalia through the Meaningful Speech course.

She currently owns a small private practice in SF and works part-time at the Social Thinking® - Stevens Creek clinic in San Jose. In her free time, she enjoys interior design, practicing pilates and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Rachel Rapp M.S. CCC-SLP

Rachel earned her M.S. in speech-language pathology from the University of Oregon and her B.A. from Indiana University at Bloomington. She brings a range of clinical experience from working in the hospital setting at UCSF to running groups in a brain injury and concussion program and treating children and adolescents in the outpatient setting.

Prior to graduate school, Rachel spent a number of years working in corporate communications in New York City. While there, she volunteered at the NYU Child Study Center’s camp for children with selective mutism and knew this was the field for her. Having experienced selective mutism herself growing up, Rachel has empathy and passion for helping her clients who are struggling with communication.
