Courage to Communicate Camp
July 7th -10th, 2025
Courage to Communicate Camp is an intensive group treatment program for kids ages 3-8 with selective mutism and communication anxiety. Therapists and counselors will help each camper gain brave talking practice through:
Speaking with peers
Speaking with the group leaders and new adults
Speaking in front of the group
Community outings (ordering food, speaking with store clerks)
Self-advocating with group leader and peers
Engaging in classroom/school activities simulation (e.g. playground games, circle time)
Exploring our thoughts and feelings around anxiety, brave talking and more
Children will practice speaking with peers and new adults through fun, engaging activities that include: arts and crafts, community outings, collaborative games, outdoor activities, “show and tell” and more. At the end of each day, families will meet with therapists to discuss the group activities and strategies for carryover at home. New families will participate in an intake and fade-in session with the therapists at the clinic prior to the start of camp.

Location: Social Learners SF Clinic (near Alabama and 24th Streets in the Mission) and outings to nearby community locations
